Drama

Welcome to Walnut High School Theater Arts!

Walnut High School Theatre is a comprehensive standards based program that exposes students to all aspects of theatre and provides opportunities for students to pursue in-depth theatre studies in musical theatre, acting, directing, playwriting, improvisation, and theatrical design.

It is a program not only run FOR the students but also BY the students. Students have the opportunity to audition to perform in two main stage shows a year (Fall Play and Spring Musical) as well as other performance opportunities (showcases, improv nights, and cabarets).

Advanced Drama students participate and compete in theatre festivals during the year. Stagecraft students get hands on real world experience through workshops, after-school classes, and the ability to join the production crew as makeup, costume, and prop crew members. Whether they want to work towards admission to a college theatre program or just want to have fun while increasing their confidence and presentation skills, all students are welcome in the department.

The Drowsey Chaperone

SPRING MUSICAL 2026

The Walnut High Drama Program is proud to announce our Spring Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone—a charming and hilarious celebration of musical theatre!

Set in the living room of an enthusiastic theatre fan, this Tony Award-winning show comes to life as he plays his favorite cast recording, transporting the audience into a 1920s musical full of glitter, glamour, and uproarious comedy. Romance blossoms, a wedding teeters on the brink of disaster, and a boozy chaperone attempts to save the day—all while delightfully poking fun at classic Broadway tropes.
